Why do I work at Florence Crittenton?
I work at FCFS to share my experience, strength, and hope. To remind them that they deserve another chance at having a life for not just themselves, but for their children as well. Their past does not define them. They can have any life they wish to have, and I hope I can help build their confidence to end the stigma!!
I work at Florence Crittenton because of the supportive staff environment, the relationships I have formed with each client and their children, to further empower women, and to contribute to our shared goal of healing generational trauma one step at a time. Florence Crittenton is supportive of student schedules and there are many opportunities to expand your career within this non-profit. For example, I was promoted within one year of working here, right around the time of receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree. When I applied for my position at Florence Crittenton Preschool I knew I wanted to work at a place that no only served children preschool age, but also served the needs of the community. I was not quite aware of exactly what impact Florence Crittenton made to the families served, until I began working and could see first hand. Not only does Florence Crittenton staff strive daily to meet the needs of parents and their children in the community, but they pour their hearts into it!
The staff at Florence Crittenton continuously give not only their time and dedication, but primarily their love, to give these families a chance at a better life. The staff pour their hearts and souls into the families served, but also builds incredibly strong relationships with their co-workers. The amount of love and support I have felt over the past three years of working here is unmatched by any other job I have held. The team works tirelessly to ensure that each other are taken care of in all aspects of life, not just ensuring the job is getting done.

For nearly two decades, I have had the privilege and opportunity to work with hundreds of folks who have been disrupted by trauma and broken relationships and have made the courageous decision to seek assistance in their journey towards hope and healing. This work has been rewarding but has also taught me the importance of early intervention and education to change the trajectory of families and break the cycle of relational disruption. At Florence Crittenton, we do both. We help mother’s and families build resilience and address the pain of their past while providing them with the education and skills they need to attach to and raise their children in a way that builds healthy attachment and creates amazing humans. At Florence Crittenton, we are afforded the privilege to help families change their future. That mission, coupled with the opportunity to work with some amazing and incredibly unique humans, is why I come to work every day.
