Florence Crittenton is delighted to announce receipt of a $75,000 grant from the hope & grace fund, a project of New Venture Fund in partnership with the global women’s skincare brand philosophy, inc. Florence Crittenton was one of just 12 grantees and the only agency selected in Montana.
The hope and grace initiative believes in touching minds and healing hearts. They are part of a national movement to address women’s mental health and donate 1% of all philosophy USA net sales to support community-based mental health efforts for women. Florence Crittenton of Helena was a select few organization invited to apply for the grant in late winter, 2016, based on our focused work with young mothers that face mental health challenges.
The hope & grace grant will support Florence Crittenton in growing and enhancing trauma-informed mental health treatment services to young women and their families. Florence Crittenton will begin with the implementation of an institutional training program of ARC (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency). With assistance of these funds, the agency will also hire a Director of Strategic Growth & Programs who will provide FCHS with the ability to better incorporate trauma-informed care on an institutionally sustainable level, as well as assist in expanding services and reach across Montana.
The impact of this project on the communities we serve will be substantial. The project will allow us to combine our knowledge and evidence-based programs with a framework that encompasses the trauma-informed care we know is critical to young families; all through a two generation approach focused on support for young mothers and their children. The combination of mental health services, parenting support, and a trauma-informed care framework could have a profound effect on the way we change outcomes for families in this region. By approaching mental health and wellbeing in this fashion we can begin building resiliency in families.
Florence Crittenton’s Development Director, Carrie Krepps said, “This is a groundbreaking grant award for Florence Crittenton, not necessarily in the amount of the award, but the recognition on a national level regarding the importance of addressing a mother’s mental health and her own trauma, and the important work we are doing right here in Montana to change outcomes for these young families in crisis.”

About hope & grace fund
The hope & grace fund is a project of the New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to supporting powerful and impactful public interest projects. The program was launched in partnership with philosophy in July, 2014 and is fully funded through philosophy’s contribution of 1% of all net USA product sales on philosophy.com, and subsequently integrated all USA retail, online and television product sales. With the initiative, philosophy becomes the first company to place a deep focus on women’s mental health and wellbeing. In addition, philosophy becomes the first major skin care and fragrance brand to make a brand-wide commitment to dedicate at least 1% of its USA sales to charity.
