After 21 years serving the needs of girls, babies and families, Barb Burton, Executive Director of Florence Crittenton, is saying farewell. Barb will retire in September and move on to her next chapter to spend more time with her grandson and enjoy time at her family cabin.
“I have had the honor and privilege of working side-by-side with an amazing leadership team and staff,” said Burton. “I realized early on, the success of the organization depended on the ability to reach as many stakeholders as possible. Empowering our team to share our message allowed Florence Crittenton to positively impact many more lives.”
Burton is proud of everything that has been accomplished during her time with the home, making a difference in so many young lives. “I am so proud of the team I have supported and mentored during my career. Together we have accomplished great things.”
Through the Council of Accreditation, FCH received its first accreditation status in 2013, and in 2018, Burton led an extensive restructure of the home’s residential program, allowing FCH to expand its services, putting a greater emphasis on addressing mental health and substance abuse for their clients. The residential recovery program is unique because it allows women to keep their children with them as they go through treatment. “We feel passionately about how mom can bond with baby, and really help support her in not only her recovery journey, but also in her parenting skills,” Burton said. “Being able to see our clients succeed and watch their children grow and thrive is proof of the importance of our programs.”
The search for a new director for Florence Crittenton will begin right away with a hiring committee consisting of Board members. The FCH Board has also established a fund in Burton’s honor that will benefit the families served by FCH, and will hold an open house event celebrating her time there in September.
“I’m so proud that, at this point in transition, the Home is poised for continued growth and success,” Burton said. “I have tremendous confidence in the Board and team at Florence Crittenton and that the Home will continue to thrive with their leadership and guidance.”
