Child Enrichment Center Volunteer
Position Description
Summary:
The Child Enrichment Center (CEC) is seeking individuals interested in offering their time and support to our infants and toddlers. Volunteers in the CEC work alongside our paid staff members to consistently maintain a more personal staff-to-child ratio. Individuals seeking to volunteer at our center should possess a passion for interacting with young children.
Hours/Days of Week:
Monday, Tuesday, or Friday Mornings: anytime between 8:00 to 12:00
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday Afternoons: anytime between 2:00 to 5:00
Qualifications:
Child Enrichment Center Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. They must physically be able to care for young children, including being able to bend and lift 25 lbs. CEC volunteers must satisfy Montana State Child Care Licensing requirements prior to volunteering in the center. These include:
Provide proof of MMR and DTAP vaccinations
Pass criminal and child protective services background checks
Complete Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED training (unless currently certified)
Complete “Safety Essentials” online course
Responsibilities:
Read books, engage in play activities, and generally provide undivided attention to infants and toddlers
Understand and adhere to the Child Enrichment Center’s Policies & Procedures
Utilize our Tell-Show-Help-Praise and Positive Descriptive Feedback models to support social-emotional development
Stay in close communication with Early Childhood Program Manager
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and families you see in the facility
Call in advance if unable to keep scheduled time
Maintain volunteer log regarding recording dates/hours spent in the center
