Florence Crittenton volunteers enrich the lives of our young moms, their children, and staff. Serving as little as one hour per week, you can provide encouragement, boost someone’s self-esteem, and brighten someone’s future. Choose the volunteer program that will make the best use of your personal talents, and feel good about giving of yourself!

Here are some current volunteer needs:

Babysitters Program (Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age)

Group Time Babysitters:
While at Florence Crittenton, all our clients are required to attend daily therapeutic and educational groups. These groups cover such topics as parenting, emotional regulation, prenatal education, bonding and attachment, and independent life skills training. These sessions are a very important part of each young mom’s treatment program, and we want to make sure that they all can fully participate. Therefore, we arrange for babysitters to care for their children while they attend group. Groups normally meet Monday through Friday from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.

On Call Babysitters:
One of the challenges our young moms will face as they leave Florence Crittenton is securing safe and reliable child care for when they cannot be with their children. We hope that through this program, their first attempts at arranging for child care will be positive and successful. In this program, you can give as much or as little of your time as you find works for your schedule. You simply offer to have your name and phone number to staff on a list of potential babysitters. When a client needs has a need for childcare, staff will help them contact individuals on the on-call list to determine if someone might be available during the time needed.

Grocery Coordinator:
Nutritious, home-cooked meals are prepared in house daily for the families who live here. The grocery coordinator is a great asset to our team by working with staff to develop shopping lists from already created menus and shop for groceries for our young mothers and their children. . Child Enrichment Center Volunteer Program
The Child Enrichment Center (CEC) is an independently licensed child care facility within our home. The Child Enrichment Center provides services to clients from the Florence Crittenton Home program as well as members of the larger Helena community. Volunteers in the CEC work alongside our paid staff members to consistently maintain a more personal staff-to-child ratio. When possible, volunteers in this program commit to a regular weekly schedule. CEC hours are 7:30 to 4:00 M-F; volunteers must be 18 years of age. The full position description is available here. Outreach Center:
Florence Crittenton’s Community Outreach Center aims to provide education and support to families with young children. These services include support groups for teen moms, a variety of classes for parents of all ages, and Helena Parent Connections. The parenting classes we offer are most helpful to families when both parents can attend, thus there is a need to provide childcare weekly during these classes (Mondays, 5:00-8:00 PM).
Helena Parent Connections is a free group designed for families to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interactions, utilize community resources and increase their knowledge of ways to support children’s development. This active group is open to the public with activities supporting early childhood development. Helena Parent Connections is a component of the Parents As Teachers® home visiting model. Volunteers lend a helping hand during these monthly Connections so that all of our families enjoy the activities together. Feel good about your investment into the community at large with our Outreach Center opportunities.

All of our volunteers apply and must pass a criminal and child protective services background check. For more information on volunteering and minimal fees associated with running the background checks, please contact:
