Foundation Relations Officer

Hours:                     20 hours per week 
Supervisor:               Development Director

Summary:

The Foundation Relations Officer designs and administers the foundations giving program of the development department.  This includes corporate donors that have a specific grants process; otherwise, annual business appeals are performed by other staff.  May include writing federal or other public-funded grants.

Primary responsibilities are to research, provide stewardship to, and write proposals and reports for foundation and corporate donors.  The goal of this position is to maintain and increase funds from foundation and corporate donors.    

Requirements:

  • impeccable writing skills
  • ability to communicate effectively and with passion, verbally and in written form
  • ability to track foundation contacts; keep development staff apprised of where we stand with each donor/prospect; keep internal Foundations Tracking form updated
  • experience in being a harmonious team player
  • a proven track record in writing proposals and reports and obtaining foundation and corporate grants; and
  • familiarization with various computer applications.  

An extensive working knowledge of non-profit programs including federal, private and corporate grants and philanthropic programs is preferred.  Demonstrated success in obtaining large grants is essential.  Grant writing includes ability to create program descriptions.  Must share commitment to our vision, mission and philosophy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

  • Develop and implement annual plan for foundations and corporations with Executive Director
  • Work with development team on all development goals.

 
MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Work together with all staff members in overall management of the development department and the organization, including Marketing, Program Services and Administration.
  • Ensure that all grants and contracts are administered in accordance with agreement documents and that required reports are filed on time.
  • Oversee maintenance of, and report on, foundation and corporate funding progress, including maintenance of Foundations Tracking list.

FUNDRAISING

  • Implement annual foundation and corporations plan.  Includes researching prospects, writing grant proposals, reports and general correspondence to current and prospective donors, and carrying out exemplary stewardship. 
  • Ensure that all corporate and foundation gifts are recorded and acknowledged in timely and correct manner.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the coordinated, systematic and efficient implementation of the organization’s culture, goals, philosophy and values.
  • Other writing duties as assigned.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Attributes and Licensing Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and minimum 3-5 years of fundraising experience that includes grant writing.  The abilities to inspire others and engage all types of people.  A sense of humor is strongly preferred!

The Foundation Relations Officer must be a creative, energetic individual who possesses the ability to coordinate and organize complex projects from the development stage to implementation.  This position demands strong attention to detail while keeping the “Big Picture” in sight.  Valid driver’s license, satisfactory background check and a health statement are required for all employees at the Florence Crittenton.
